Lima, Apr. 04 (ANDINA). The governments of Peru and South Korea have already begun the respective internal procedures in order for the bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) to come into effect on July 1, Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported.
“Mincetur has already sent the FTA text to the Agreements Division of the Foreign Ministry to carry out the corresponding evaluation and define what kind of agreement it is,” Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros has announced.
The Peru-South Korea FTA was signed on March 21 in Seoul by Minister Ferreyros and his Korean counterpart Kim Jong-hoon.
Ferreyros stressed that this agreement opens an important market of some 50 million potential consumers, who have a per capita income of more than US$ 17,000 that could purchase Peruvian products.
He highlighted that thanks to the FTA, bilateral trade will grow considerably not only in the exchange of basic products, but also high quality vehicles, electrical appliances, capital goods and electronic equipment will go into the Peruvian market at better price
