Lima, Mar. 31 (ANDINA). Nearly one million domestic tourists will spend some time exploring the most popular sites across the country during Holy Week this year (the last week of April), a large inflow of people that will generate an income of up to 600 million soles (about US$ 214.2 million).
Announcement was made by the President of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) Tourism Committee (Comtur) Alvaro Benavides, who said inbound tourism flow is likely to surge 15 percent compared to the same period last year.
Benavides explained that increased inbound tourism flow reflects the vigorous economy of our country and the improving income of Peruvians. “These figures are optimistic as election climate has not generated major hitches”.
Benavides said most of the people, especially those from Lima, choose Ayacucho, Arequipa, Tarma (Junín) and Lunahuaná (Lima Province) as their holiday destinations during these days.
Tourists also visit Huancayo (Junín), Ica, Trujillo (La Libertad), Huaraz (Áncash) and Cusco, where hospitality capacity reaches 100% in most cases. “We are a spiritual nation and each region offers different activities to visitors,” he stated.
