The arrival of more visitors from Asia and Latin America will boost inbound tourism in Peru in the coming years as they have become markets with high growth potential, Vice Minister of Tourism, Claudia Cornejo said on Sunday. According to the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), Asia will become the biggest tourism issuer region in the world because it has large markets such as the Japanese, Chinese and Korean, whose inhabitants enjoy great purchasing power and travel passion. Furthermore, Latin America has been expanding significantly and many countries such as Brazil, Chile, Colombia and other Central American have become big tourism issuers. "Obviously, the region, Asia and other emerging markets will register the highest tourism growth in the coming years. We have to take advantage of that and try to attract more tourists from these regions," she told Andina news agency. Therefore, inbound tourism strategy of Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) will focus on capturing more visitors from these regions, without forgetting the United States and Europe. Cornejo stressed that inbound tourism in Peru is expected to expand more than nine percent this year from 13 percent last year, tripling world's tourism growth, which was 4.4 percent last year.
